The Parader line of Beagles first ran the Central Louisiana fields here
in Alexandria Louisiana back in 1933.
In the ensuing years, there were a number of great field dogs. There are
even a couple bitches from the "old line" that date all the way back to the
original 1933 Beagle.
Showing Collies began back in the 1970's by the Davis family under the
DAVISHALL prefix and ......by the Biggs family under the Bellevue prefix.
There have been approximately 250 Champions finished by the two families
since those early show days.
About ten years ago, as a joint breeding program under the name of
DAVISHALL BEAGLES, showing Beagles became a new focus here by Wade Davis
and Thomas Biggs as a joint breeding program. For that they went to some of
the premier show kennels in the United States for their foundation breeding
stock. Particularly to Lanbur Kennels of Jon Woodring and Wade Burns, Thomas
and Wade offer their thanks and appreciation for sharing some of their
favorites with us.
Even though the focus is on show beagles here at PARADER KENNELS and
DAVISHALL BEAGLES, it is still
imperative
that the Beagles possess that natural Beagle temperament and intelligence
that the breed was intended.
Browse through the pages of this website. You will be impressed with the
continuity of type and brains.
Our males are all listed on the link to MALES and
our females are listed on our link to FEMALES. We
will usually have some really nice puppies available as we are constantly
breeding for that next great show dog. Therefore our puppies that we sell
as show pups or wonderful forever pets are the littermates of what we will
be showing the following show season. You may find these on the PUPPIES
FOR SALE page.

A sturdy hunting dog, the Beagle should look like a
foxhound in miniature. His hunting ability, combined with a merry personality,
has made the Beagle one of the most popular dogs in the United States according
to AKC® Registration Statistics. The most famous Beagle of all is Snoopy from
the comic strip "Peanuts." Today's Beagle comes in two height varieties (13 in.
and 15 in.) and any true hound color, including tri-color, red and white and
lemon.
In the 1500s, most English gentleman had packs of hounds. Larger hounds tracked
deer, while smaller ones went after rabbits. These were the first Beagles. The
origin of the name "Beagle" may have been derived from the French term "be'geule,"
referring to the baying voice of the hounds when in pursuit of game, or possibly
the diminutive size of the hound.
Beagles are happy-go-lucky and friendly, making them a wonderful family pet.
They are also favored for their compact size and short easy to care for coat.
Since they lived in packs for hundreds of years, they naturally enjoy the
company of other dogs and humans. Curious and comedic, they often follow their
noses-which can lead to some mischief if they are not provided with daily
activity.............
